How to cook perfect hard boiled eggs that peel easily!
With Easter right around the corner and egg sales through the roof… I figured this is a good time to post about how to cook the perfect hard boiled egg that peels effortlessly. There’s nothing worse than half of your egg white coming off with the shell… and it taking 5 minutes to peel one darn egg!
So here you go for fool proof eggs:
- Fill a medium to large size pot of water about half way
- Add 1/2 cup of white vinegar
- Add 1 Tbs salt
- Heat water on high to a boil.
- CAREFULLY add your eggs one at a time. I always cook the whole dozen.
- Lower your heat, so you have a soft boil, and cook for 14-15 minutes.
- After cooking, immediately place the eggs in a bowl of ice water. I use a metal bowl, so they stay colder for longer.
- Check back after 15 minutes and voilà! You have PERFECTLY cooked eggs that are a snap to peel!
I typically hard boil a dozen eggs each week. We always eat them as snacks…. and I love sliced eggs on my salad! It’s so nice to have them ready to go in the fridge.
